Update on the Serik Pati Evi Animal Shelter

New arrivals and lovely gifts

Great news from Turkey:

Thanks to our support, the Serik Pati Evi animal shelter in Belek/Serik is constantly expanding its facilities and grounds to accommodate the large number of stray dogs and cats arriving from the surrounding area.

With incredible care and love, the volunteers look after these suffering animals. In addition to regular meals, medical care, and plenty of clean space to play together, the animals are finally receiving the respect and affection they never had before.

And that’s not all: Recently, some wonderful gifts also found their way to the dogs there. Renate Schütz, owner of theJaDaCord label, donated over 50 handmade, custom collars made from parachute cord in various colors.

The pictures speak for themselves—seeing how proudly the dogs wear their new accessories, no one can say anymore that animals don’t have a sense of style. A big thank you to the generous donor!

Nevertheless, despite all the care and the regular donations of money and supplies—space remains limited, and the influx of new animals shows no sign of slowing down. And even though the dogs and cats feel very much at home in Belek, the shelter is meant to be only a temporary stop on their journey to a permanent home.

This also applies to the puppies born here. From his latest trip to Turkey, our managing director, Mirko Oesterhaus, brought back some absolutely adorable photos of the little rascals. Who needs overpriced puppies that are often bred and imported under the most appalling conditions? In Belek, there are more than enough puppies who would be delighted to receive genuine affection and a loving home.

About 40 young animals—20 of which were born only recently and 20 of which are under one year old—are currently living at the shelter. The animals are well-fed, healthy, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered, and are available for official adoption. Once a binding adoption agreement is in place, our contact person, Barbara Schellenberg, will handle all further arrangements. This includes not only the necessary vaccinations, such as the rabies vaccine, but also the titer test required for entry into Germany. The entire process takes about four months. Afterward, transportation to your home will be arranged in compliance with all applicable regulations and as animal-friendly as possible, ensuring that your new pet arrives safely and soundly.
