Greater Efficiency in the Service Catalog

Service Catalog Plus expands the Matrix42 Service Catalog with five practical modules that enhance usability, flexibility, and efficiency in the digital request process. Whether it’s a clear overview of order status, intelligent form control, or automatic deletion of expired services—this expansion makes life noticeably easier for users and IT managers alike. All modules can be used individually, are technically perfectly coordinated, and are update-proof—even in the Matrix42 Cloud. This makes the service catalog the central tool for modern IT and business services.

Module: Employee Life Cycle

The module supports employees throughout their entire tenure—from onboarding to offboarding. Services, permissions, and devices can be automatically assigned and revoked, which reduces the workload on all departments involved and significantly speeds up processes.

Onboarding new employees is one of the most complex processes in IT service management. With this module, all necessary services, devices, and permissions can be requested directly through the self-service portal—either manually or by automatically importing existing HR data. Reference roles enable additional automation, for example through predefined permission and service packages. Communication between HR and IT is also clearly structured.

During offboarding, the module ensures a seamless reversal process: All services assigned to the employee are identified, the return process is initiated, and the account is deactivated. This ensures that no licenses, devices, or access rights are lost. Internal transfers or reactivations—such as after a sabbatical or parental leave—are also handled flexibly.

Module: Password Self-Service

Reset passwords—no waiting, no IT assistance required. This module allows users to reset their passwords on their own using security questions in the self-service portal—anytime, even outside of support hours.

Resetting forgotten or locked-out passwords is one of the most common—but also one of the most sensitive—IT requests. Especially in larger organizations, IT support often lacks the means to verify the requester’s identity beyond a shadow of a doubt—particularly outside of business hours.

With the Self Service password, this hurdle is eliminated. Users set their own security questions in advance. If their account is locked, they can authenticate themselves via the Matrix42 Self Service Portal and reset their password on their own—24/7, without contacting the IT department. This reduces the workload on support while also increasing user satisfaction.

Module: Service Booking Plus

This module simplifies the process of back-billing for services already provided—especially during the rollout of the Matrix42 Service Catalog. Existing services can be systematically recorded quickly and without specialized technical knowledge.

Especially when setting up a new service catalog, there are often numerous services already in use that were previously provided outside the system. Service Booking Plus makes it easy to automatically back-book these existing services—without requiring complex ASQL knowledge or manual intervention.

The module enhances existing services with pre-built ASQL statements and enables users to easily select multiple existing items or software products. This not only speeds up the rollout of the service catalog but also ensures a structured overview of services during ongoing operations.

Module: Limited Service

Not every service is needed on a permanent basis. This module enables temporary service deployments—ideal for project work, temporary roles, or temporary access rights. Services are returned automatically or on a case-by-case basis.

By default, services in the Matrix42 Service Catalog can be used indefinitely—they can only be returned manually. The Limited Services module enhances this process with flexible duration control. Services such as local admin rights or expensive software products can thus be provisioned specifically for a defined period of time.

The duration can be set by the system or customized by the requester. An optional extension is also available. If the service is not actively returned before it expires, it is automatically deactivated—without any additional effort on the part of IT.

Module: APALIMA - Advanced Package Lifecycle Management

Always up to date: APALIMA ensures that the latest released version is always installed when you order software—including future updates—without the need to schedule another service visit.

When Matrix42 Service Catalog and Empirum are used together, both technical standards and organizational requirements must be taken into account during software distribution—such as installing different versions for security reasons. For end users, this often means manual updates or repeated service requests.

APALIMA automates this process. When an order is placed, the latest version of the software is automatically installed. As soon as a new version is made available within the organization, the update is also performed automatically—without any additional ordering process. This saves time, reduces extra effort, and ensures that all software is up to date and consistent.
