Sundowner 2022

After a far too long “forced hiatus,” we were finally able to welcome our clients back to our offices for the Consulting4IT Sundowner on July 19, 2022. It was the first time we hosted the event in our new offices. Despite the heat wave, the vacation season, and travel distances of over 500 km for some attendees, we had a full house—and it felt great—for us and our guests!

The afternoon was filled with engaging presentations on the topic of “IT security.”

Sven Carlsen from Varonis Systems Germany kicked things off. He gave a gripping demonstration of how quickly and easily hackers can infiltrate our lives and businesses—using the simplest of methods and without sophisticated equipment. Holger Bajohr-May, CISO at Technische Werke Ludwigshafen, then spoke about the cybercrime incident the company experienced in 2020. What happened and when? How did TWL respond? And what steps were taken to be better prepared for the future? An exciting, honest, and captivating presentation! Once again, many thanks to our speakers.

Our security expert, Yunus Karakaya, wrapped up the technical portion of the session. He outlined ways to protect against hacker attacks—or rather, against the resulting damage—and discussed what companies can do to make life as difficult as possible for hacker groups.

The takeaway from the afternoon: We won’t be able to stop cyberattacks from continuing to rise. Nor will we be able to completely prevent companies from being hacked. But through vigilance, with the support of experts and various tools, we can ensure that it is as difficult as possible for them and that the damage caused is minimal. The technical portion of our Sundowner was summarized by our guests as “a great event, with just the right number and duration of presentations.”

Around 5:30 p.m., the event moved into its more relaxed phase. A delicious Mediterranean buffet and a cocktail bar awaited our guests. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged interaction with other users and our experts. We rounded out the evening with our customers over good conversation. According to Frank Heisig of GEDORE, the nearly 400-kilometer round trip is worth it every single time.

To sum it up, we can say the day was a complete success, and we’re already looking forward to the next one!
