Julian has done it again! He’s secured another spot on the podium. And not just at some random regional competition, but at the DSV Junior Selection Trials, which took place last weekend, February 26–27, in Bischofsgrün. What made this special: The nationwide competition was held as a replacement for the “Bundesfinale Jugend trainiert für Olympia” and was therefore of significant importance.
Julian competed against the best in his age group from all over Germany and came away with two victories: In the individual competitions on Saturday and Sunday, he flew his way to a heroic second-place finish! On Sunday, he also helped the Baden-Württemberg team secure first place. As a result, he won both silver and gold over the weekend!
The results (S11 boys and girls, 30.0 m hill) in detail:
Saturday – 29.0 meters – 209.5 points – 2nd place
Sunday – 28.5 meters – 210 points – 2nd place
Sunday – 842.2 points – 1st place: Team SBWI Baden-Württemberg
Among those who congratulated him on his success was Horst Hüttel, the DSV’s sporting director and team manager for the national Nordic combined and ski jumping teams. He also expressed confidence that the athlete would have a chance to compete in the Olympics in eight years!

A quick word about our young ski talent: Every hero starts small. Julian Schonhardt discovered his passion for ski jumping at a young age and has been supported by his family ever since. He showed his talent right from the start and was soon flying ahead of everyone else—just like Superman! Today, he’s 10 years old and is already one of the most promising ski talents of his age.
