For us, social engagement is much more than just financial donations. It is part of our corporate philosophy. Through our Charity Board, we support local organizations, social projects, and people and animals facing difficult circumstances. In addition to financial contributions, what matters most to us is personal involvement: working together, actively helping, and sharing some of our own prosperity. In 2025, we once again supported many meaningful initiatives, which we would like to summarize here.
Rabbit and Elf Workshop – Lernfreunde House
Both in the spring and in the winter, we once again participated in the activities at UNESON Karlsruhe’s Lernfreunde-Haus. In the “Hasen” and “Wichtel” workshops, we packed gift bags for refugee and underprivileged children—lovingly filled with coloring books, pencils, small toys, and other small gifts. In addition to packing the bags, we also took on preparatory tasks such as sorting, organizing, and preparing the materials. Many colleagues also contributed in-kind donations via a digital wish list. We were particularly pleased with the positive feedback from the staff and the children.
Volunteering at the Karlsruhe Animal Shelter
Once again, we supported the Karlsruhe Animal Shelter at the pet cemetery. Together with about ten colleagues, we spent several hours clearing weeds from paths and grave sites, disposing of yard waste, and visibly beautifying the grounds. Our contribution also included a donation of 1,000 euros to support the shelter’s important work.
Fence Construction – Tierschutzhof AG Tierschutz Pferde & Co e.V.
Another project took us to an animal sanctuary in the region, where we worked with the organization to build a new fence for a pasture for horses and goats. Despite the high temperatures and blazing sun, everyone worked tirelessly to ensure the animals would have a safe, permanent space. We also contributed to the cost of materials.
Clothing donations for the Karlsruhe Clothing Bank
As in previous years, we have collected a large amount of clothing donations for the Karlsruhe Clothing Bank. There, people in need can obtain clothing for free or at very low prices. The high level of participation from the faculty demonstrates how important social support is in everyday life and how easily each individual can make a contribution.
Support for the Schwalbennest Preschool
This year, we participated in a fundraising campaign for a new climbing frame at the Schwalbennest kindergarten in Waldbronn. What made this special was that the donation was proactively initiated by three colleagues who wanted to donate the money collected by their coworkers for their 60th birthdays to a good cause. Our management thought this was such a great idea that they doubled the amount from 1,000 to 2,000 euros. The children and the parent-teacher association were overjoyed, and as a thank-you, we received a picture they had drawn themselves, which now holds a place of honor in our office.
Support for Hackers4Good
In 2025, we continued to support the Hackers4Good organization, which, among other things, sponsors school projects in Nepal and organizes Christmas events for seriously ill children in hospices. In addition to our annual monetary donation, we contributed in-kind donations based on wish lists to provide targeted support to the children and their families.
Volunteering at the Serik Patili Dünya Animal Shelter
Through our managing director, Mirko Oesterhaus, and animal rights activist Barbara Schellenberg, we have been supporting the Serik Patili Dünya animal shelter in Serik for several years now. The shelter cares for stray dogs and cats, finds them new homes, and is funded exclusively by donations. This year, we made it possible to build a fence through a monetary donation to securely enclose the enclosures. Through our contributions, we also aim to raise awareness of the work being done on the ground and encourage people to sponsor animals, make donations, or give an animal a home.
A year full of small and large initiatives
Whether it’s weeding, building fences, packing gift bags, or making monetary and in-kind donations: every initiative shows just how much can be achieved when people work together. We are grateful for every dedicated volunteer at our company and for the organizations we have the privilege of partnering with. We’re sure there will be many exciting projects waiting for us in 2026.
