For nearly three weeks, Ukraine has been engulfed in war and terror. Reports of violence and death continue unabated. What remains is a sense of helplessness. What can we do in the face of all this suffering? We asked ourselves this question as a company and immediately explored our options. As an initial response, we promptly made our company bus available to deliver a donation of supplies to the Polish border.
The hardworking volunteers used our Sprinter van and several private cars to deliver urgently needed supplies directly to the refugees. With the funds that were also made available immediately, additional hygiene products and food were purchased and distributed on site.
What made us particularly happy: On the way back, we were able to take several refugees to their friends or relatives. They are now safe, even though their lives have been completely turned upside down. Other Ukrainians weren’t so lucky; they are still on the run or trapped in bunkers while missiles strike overhead. We naturally hope that this nightmare will come to an end for them as well in the foreseeable future, though we fear that this, unfortunately, will not happen anytime soon.
Since we have been donating to charity for years, it goes without saying that we should provide active assistance to refugees, especially now. After all, for these people, it’s not about high gas prices or a shortage of cooking oil. It’s not even about a hot meal or a roof over their heads.
Instead, it is about the sheer survival of innocent people in the face of yet another senseless war.
A big thank you goes out to our volunteers, but also to everyone—whether individuals, companies, or other organizations—who are pitching in and offering help in the spirit of peace during these dark times! We will continue to explore ways to assist the affected Ukrainians and have already launched additional fundraising campaigns, about which we will keep you updated.
