5 Questions with… Immacolata Fasano from the City of Konstanz
Immacolata Fasano has been working in the IT departments of the City of Konstanz since completing her training. She began her training at the Consulting4IT Academy just as early on. In this interview, she explains why she is grateful to the City of Konstanz and what kept bringing her back to the Academy’s classrooms.
Immacolata, of all the participants so far, you’ve completed the most training sessions at our Academy—roughly how many were there, and how did you first hear about us?
It all started when I was selected to assist with asset management even while I was still in training. At the time, Consulting4IT was already the Matrix42 partner for the City of Konstanz. When my supervisor at the time signed up for an asset management training course with you, he signed me up right along with him. That’s how I ended up attending my first training session with you. In the years that followed, I attended about seven more training sessions at the Academy, covering topics such as Administration, Service Catalog, Empirum, and Workflow Designer. I’m grateful that the City of Konstanz made this possible for me, because it’s certainly not something to be taken for granted.
Have you already taken similar courses with other providers, and if so, how do they differ from the C4IT Academy?
I’ve also attended training sessions offered by other providers, but I find it hard to make a direct comparison. After all, every company has its own unique characteristics. What really set Consulting4IT apart, however, was the friendly, family-like atmosphere and the fact that everyone was treated as an equal. Plus, it was always a lot of fun to learn about new ways to apply Enterprise Service Management. I learned a lot and was always able to apply much of what I learned to our day-to-day work—something you can’t always say about training courses in general.
Self-study vs. Academy – How would you rate the effectiveness of both options?
I would say that a combination of both is most effective. It’s helpful to have already familiarized yourself with the system in question before a training session, since the Academy assumes a certain level of basic knowledge and builds on that. After the training sessions, I always had to revisit the material to find the right application for our needs. In every training session, I was always able to take away practical knowledge that I could apply directly in my day-to-day work. The trainers’ practical approach to teaching was a big help in this regard. Overall, the combination of self-study and the Academy training sessions was crucial.
So far, you’ve only attended in-person training sessions—what do you particularly appreciate about them?
Online training definitely has its place. It offers more flexibility in terms of time, and the material can certainly be conveyed just as effectively. But when you’re there in person, you can interact more directly with others, and the interpersonal aspect is simply more pronounced. I’ve had a very positive experience with your in-person training sessions and would therefore always prefer them.
And our final question—the one close to our hearts: Would you call yourself a true fan of our Academy, and if so, what was the deciding factor behind your enthusiasm?
Absolutely! Simply because of the whole package: from the way everything is organized, to the trainers who do a great job of conveying the material, to the welcoming atmosphere on site—I always felt very well taken care of. Plus, I could always ask questions, no matter how basic they seemed to me.If someone asked me whether I’d recommend your training courses, my answer would be “Yes, of course!”
